Gwithian Towans: Feb 22,24, March 1, 3

The area around the boundary with Upton Towans is becoming increasingly scrubby, so we will focus on creating some wider pathways and expanding some grassy areas.

Meet in the two small car parks just off the sharp bend of the B3011 road between Upton and Gwithian – where it’s signed ‘Gwithain Towans and Sunset Surf’ SW 582/407.

Hayle in Bloom AGM & Buglife talk Mon Feb 28th 7pm at Passmore Edwards Building in Hayle. After a brief AGM, Laura Larkin from Buglife will describe the new ‘North Cornwall Bee-Lines’ project, to help pollinators, that we are hoping to become more involved with. Should be very informative. Please contact in advance

Mexico Towans: March 8, 10th

Creating some more bare patches  by clearing brambles, buddleia and privet from some of the south and west-facing slopes.

Meet in first gateway on left along the private road to Beachside Leisure SW 566/388.

Gwithian Green: March 15, 17th

A nice range of jobs in our spring tidy-up of the reserve: raking brambles, mattocking clumps of pampas, pendulous sedge and montbretia, possibly also making some benches and carrying on planting native species into the Cornish hedge

Meet in the gravel car park in Green Lane, just north of Gwithian Church.

Godrevy Warren: March 22, 29, 31, April 5, 7, 14

We have some unfinished tidying up to do here in the SE corner, until birds nest, we have more blackthorn to cut, as well as raking and burning old cuttings and also (sorry) digging out lots of ragwort while they are in their rosette form.

I will fix up a visit or 2 from our consultant archaeologist while we are working here, so that we can all try to learn more about what it is (or was!) that you have uncovered this winter.

If possible, park inside the nearby gateway as you have been, otherwise it’s a walk across from the NT car park. Contact me if you are unsure or need more details.
