November
1st – 10am-2pm – Scrub bash with Wave Rangers at St Ives Bay Holiday Park
3rd 10am-2pm – Scrub bash at Godrevy Warren
7th – 7pm – Friends of the Towans AGM at Connor Downs School, including a talk by Dr Colin French on Hayle Towans: Cornwall’s Coral Reef
8th – 10am-2pm Working with Wave Rangers to clear an area of willow at Upton Towans, close to the coast path and St Ives Bay Holiday Park – the first step to restoring the area to a more biologically-rich habitat
10th – 10am-2pm – Helping to place electric fencing to contain the pones soon to return to Gwithian Green, plus some more willow coppicing
15th – 10am-2pm – As 8th
16th – 10am-2pm – Budding Nature wildlife identification workshop on plant galls and leaf miners at Gwithian. Contact to book
17th – 10am-2pm –As 8th
22nd and 24th – Blackthorn and clematis clearance at Godrevy Warren
29th – Last outing with the Wave Rangers group at St Ives Bay Park and Upton Towans
30th – Dunes monitoring group at Mexico Towans to carry out vegetation surveys of areas we plan to clear later this winter
December
1st – Continued clearing of blackthorn and clematis, at the south-east corner of Godrevy Warren
6th – As 1st
7th – Visit to Cornwall Wildlife Trust office at Allet to learn more about the Environmental Records Centre and visit the Allet Bog nature reserve. Book with
9th – Scrub bash at Godrevy Warren with Gwinear School
13th – As 1st
20th – Final session of the year, at Upton Towans, close to St Ives Bay Park. Willow cutting and burning, and bring and share lunch by the bonfire
22nd – 12.30pm Friends of the Towans Christmas lunch at the River River Inn, Gwithian
