October 2022

Friends of the Towans Art Club is taking part in The Big Draw – the world’s biggest drawing festival!

Come and join the Big Dune Draw from 12.45pm to 3pm on Saturday 29th October.

We’ll be drawing outside on the dunes, so please wear appropriate footwear and some warm layers, hat, gloves, etc. You might want to bring a mat or a folding stool and a warm or cold drink and a snack too.

You’ll need loose A4 or A5 cartridge paper and a board or sketchbook to lean on and don’t forget clips or masking tape to secure it, as it might be windy. Hilary and Dom will lead you with suggestions and tips on the Big Draw theme (#ComeBackToColour), thinking about colour in nature.

Please bring art materials you would like to use but you may borrow 2B pencils, water soluble coloured pencils, reservoir brush-pens, rubbers and sharpeners, although we only have a limited supply.

It would be marvellous if you could bring any artwork created in previous sessions and/or your FOTT Art Club sketchbook to Gwithian Chapel as early as possible, so we can include it in our display, as this is also a celebration of FOTT Art Club’s first year! We will open the chapel door at 12pm.

And please join us for a celebration back at Gwithian Chapel with tea treats and time to chat from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

To book for the Big Dune Draw please contact Hilary by email at . There are no number restrictions so spread the word and bring your friends!

The event is free, and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund via the Dynamic Dunescapes project, which is rejuvenating some of England & Wales’ most important sand dunes for people, communities and wildlife. As always, though, we’d be grateful for any donations to Friends of The Towans on the day, however small.
